About me
My name is Ryan Hawkins; I am a 19 year old up and coming tournament
fisherman from Plano Texas. I am currently a member of Plano Bass
Anglers as well as a B.A.S.S. federation nation member. Fishing has
always been a major part of my life. I have been fishing since I could
hardly walk. The reason fishing is so close and dear to my heart is
because of the excellent people you meet and the wonderful memories you
gain out on the water. My love for fishing began at a very young age,
when my grandpa used to take me out to the local parks and creeks
fishing for small catfish and bluegill. My grandpa taught me all of the
basics about fishing (catch and release, conservation, safety, and
regulations).
Since
then I have learned a lot of the secrets on being a knowledgeable
fisherman. I got hooked on bass fishing when I was about 10 years old,
fishing at a pond behind my dad’s house. I went out one time and caught
about 5 or 6 Largemouth bass on a spinner bait and just couldn’t stay
away. I am usually out fishing roughly 4-6 days a week. One secret I
learned in bass fishing is, the more time you spend on the water it
significantly expands your knowledge and skill in fishing. One of the
main reasons I enjoy bass fishing so much is because I have noticed that
there is ALWAYS something new to learn. I look forward to each and every
time I have something new to try. Since joining the tournament world in
January of 2008 I have been determined to reach my full potential as a
fisherman. I was
awarded a 1st place angler award on my 5th
tournament. I am currently the website coordinator for Plano Bass
Anglers, and have assisted in two charity events. One of the most
important things to me when it comes to fishing is helping teach the
sport of fishing. I have had many great friends who taught me the ropes
and I feel that it is my duty to pass my knowledge down the line. I am
currently enrolled as a student at Collin College. I am majoring in
Electrical Engineering. My goals in life are to get a masters degree in
Electrical Engineering and become a professional bass fisherman. Only
time will tell.
